New Work

Alyce Finwall Dance Theater is currently in rehearsals for "Enter Demeter", a collaboration with compose Jason Hoopes. 

“Enter Demeter”, with original musical composition by Jason Hoopes, explores humanity within the struggle between life and death through the physical manifestation of ten women in a restricted arena. The entirety of the stage becomes the anointed ground in which these women are enclosed and in which they struggle for autonomy, civility and significance within an often fragile and volatile environment where nothing is to be taken for granted. "Enter Demeter" opposes woman against woman, while also showing the cooperative traits that are imperative to women's existence. "Enter Demeter" showcases the beauty, clarity, value and strength of women through the interrogation of all human values.

Performances are scheduled for:

April 15 & 17, Lisser Theater, Oakland, CA

June 24 & 25, Dixon Place, New York, NY

AFDT will be RAW at the Garage!

AFDT will be the artist in residence at the Garage Theater in SF.  We will be creating a new work to be performed at the Garage on Sept. 22 & 23, 2010.
